چکیده

Abstract A large common species, Syzygium aqueum , belonging to the genus possesses numerous bioactive phytochemical constituents. Moreover, different parts of this species have been used as folk medicine since centuries ago. In study, a exploration was carried out on plant’s stem bark. Isolation compounds through extraction step with some organic solvents, followed by separation and purification using chromatography techniques until two triterpenoids were isolated from nonpolar semipolar extracts. Structure elucidation done spectroscopic methods. These identified alphitolic acid arjunolic acid. Subsequently, these in anticancer tests against human cancer cells HeLa, T47D, A549 colorimetric assay. The result showed that both more inhibition growth HeLa T47D than cells, highest activity shown cell lines.

Bioactive glycosides from the African medicinal plant Boerhavia erecta L.

Phytochemical studies of the previously unexplored stem of Boerhavia erecta from Burkina Faso, resulted in the isolation of an unreported glycoside 4, 2,3-dihydroxypropylbenzoate-3-O-β-[4″-methoxy] glucuronide as well as seven known glycosides (1-3, 5-8). The major isolate 5 and 8 indicated a significant inhibition against HIV integrase (IC50 10 and 22 μg/mL, respectively). The extracts and iso...

Bioactive Triterpenoids from the Twigs of Chaenomeles sinensis.

Chaenomeles sinensis has been consumed traditionally for the treatment of throat diseases, diarrhea, inflammatory diseases, and dry beriberi. Repeated chromatography of the CHCl3-soluble fraction from the 80% MeOH extract of C. sinensis twigs led to the isolation of three new triterpenoids, sinenic acid A (1), 3β-O-cis-feruloyl-2α,19α-dihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid (2), and 3β-O-cis-caffeoylbet...

29-Norcucurbitacin derivatives isolated from the Indonesian medicinal plant, Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl.

The new 29-norcucurbitacin, desacetylfevicordin A (1), together with three known 29-norcucurbitacin derivatives (2-4) were isolated from seeds of the Indonesian medicinal plant, Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl. The structures of 1-4 were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analyses and chemical transformation. These compounds exhibited toxicity against the brine shrimp (Artemia salina).

Pentacyclic triterpenoids from the medicinal herb, Centella asiatica (L.) Urban.

Centella asiatica accumulates large quantities of pentacyclic triterpenoid saponins, collectively known as centelloids. These terpenoids include asiaticoside, centelloside, madecassoside, brahmoside, brahminoside, thankuniside, sceffoleoside, centellose, asiatic-, brahmic-, centellic- and madecassic acids. The triterpene saponins are common secondary plant metabolites and are synthesized via th...
